The 2018/2019 Public Relations team has been planning some big things for the year. From working on creating constant communications to streamlining our communication efforts – we plan to serve the members of District 64 Toastmasters to our fully capacity.


Meet Your Public Relations Team

Michael David (ALB ACB, A.S.A.P Toastmasters – HSC Toastmasters)Public Relations Manager

Michael is this year’s Public Relations Manager for District 64. He brings with him experience as a Marketing Director at the Manitoba Association for Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Michael joined Toastmasters in 2013 and his since taken on leadership roles in his clubs and for the district. As Public Relations Manager, Michael envisions having a District working together to make the benefits of Toastmasters known throughout Manitoba, Northwest Ontario and Northwest Minnesota.

Alex Henry (Toastmasters of the Universe)Social Media Manager

Alex is the man behind a lot of information you will see throughout the 2018/2019 Toastmasters year. He manages the District 64 Blog and provides quality content for all of District 64’s Social Media accounts.

Alex joined Toastmasters three years ago and has since committed valuable time to help provide a solid structure to the Public Relations team. Outside of blogging and managing the District’s Social Media pages, Alex works to ensure a meaningful flow between online content and has organized the PR teams collaboration tools.

Teresa Cooper (DTM,Manitoba Morning – Comedy Club, Eh?)Webmaster

Teresa Cooper is a 23 year veteran of Toastmasters and has served on the District Executive Committee at many different levels. Aside from being the District’s webmaster, Teresa also holds the position of Club Officer Training Coordinator for the District.

Having worked at multiple levels of the District, Teresa brings insight and experience to practices that have been successful in the past. She currently manages two club websites for Toastmasters clubs she has been a member of and has provided other web services for a client in her line of business.

Matthew Maurer (Crossroads Toastmasters)Meetup Account Manager & Copywriter

Matthew Maurer is a relatively new Toastmaster, but has been working at all levels of Toastmasters to provide as much value to the organization as he could. Currently he is serving as an Area Director for the District and VP Membership for his club.

With his experience working in technology sector since 2007, Matthew has been tasked with managing one of the newer services (Meetup.com) being provided by District 64. Along with managing the District’s Meetup account, he also provides copywriting services for the District – tapping into the skills he inherited from his father who works as a high school English teacher.

Lloyd Gwilliam (DTM VC1, P.B.S Club – West Winners Toastmasters), Digital Media Manager

Lloyd Gwilliam has been with Toastmasters for the past 16 years and has served as both an Area Director and a Division Director. Videography is something that Lloyd became interested in as a way to promote opportunities for baby boomers in Winnipeg. Being a Board member for St. James Assiniboia 55+ and Meals on Wheels he seen a need to become a “poster child” of sorts for that particular demographic.

Lloyd has always been an early adopter of technology. For example: He was one of the first Mayors to have a community blog and use Twitter in Saskatchewan. He was also involved in setting up the first websites for Toastmasters in Calgary (Which is now the District 42 website today.)

Sharon Golin (DTM, Manitoba Telecom Club)Public Relations Media Outreach

Sharon Golin is a long time Toastmaster, having joined her first club 21 years ago. She is an avid Toastmaster and promotes the Toastmasters program whenever she can. Her role on the District 64 Public Relations team is one of the most important ones when it comes to maintaining the public’s perception of Toastmasters. Sharon maintains public relations through traditional media such as newspapers, TV, and print publications.

In past years Sharon has served on the District Executive Committee as District 64’s Logistics Manager where she helped District Leaders organize successful district events.
