The District’s Humorous Speech contest and International Speech contest are always excellent opportunities to hear accomplished District 64 Toastmasters compete for the coveted First Place win! You can support your club, area or division’s winning contestants as they speak their way to the top.
District 64 successfully launched the first Open House Information Session on Sunday, July 25, 2021 hosted by Past District Director Laverne Wojciechkowski, DTM. Laverne kicked off the evening with an overview of Toastmasters International and District 64. The Agenda included a special presentation about the Pathways Educational Program by Club Growth Director David Storey, DTM and a presentation by a member of the District 64 PR Team Liz Jonasson, DTM, about why Table Topics is a powerful tool for growth of communication and leadership skills. The evening ended with a Q and A followed by a Call to Action featuring Laverne explaining How to Join a Club!
District 64 Open House Information Sessions are being held on the last Sunday of each month during 2021-22. From District Director Alfred Kerperin DTM – Fellow Toastmasters of District 64, your District and District Director needs your help. After many calls, I have to use a different way to find you. I don’t like this, as until now I have assembled my team by calling and talking to people.
I am looking for Area Directors. This position is still required to achieve your DTM, even under the Pathway umbrella. If you and your club belongs to one of the following Areas and you are willing to help your District, I would like to hear from you. During my terms as Area Governor and Area Director I had a lot of fun helping and guiding clubs and members in the right direction to achieve their goals.

As we are all aware at present, the Government of Manitoba is pulling Covid 19 restrictions back. According to Orders under the Public Act Dated July 15, 2021, ORDER 2, page 3:
2(1) Except as otherwise permitted by these Orders, all persons are prohibited from assembling in a gathering or attending an event involving
(a) more than 25 persons at indoor premises that are not a private residence;
(b) more than 25 persons at an outdoor location on private property;
Changes to existing Public Health Orders will took effect July 17, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. and will remain in effect until 12:01 a.m. on August 7, 2021. For more information see the Provincial Guidelines

This translates, that if your club can meet the regulations and rules of the Province of Manitoba (masks and 2-meter social distancing) as well as rules of your meeting place, you could meet in person. When this was brought to my attention, I called Toastmasters International and was informed that if these rules can be followed, all our club must integrate a hybrid option to meet in person.
